The „Plasma-Spot®“ is a new plasma device for inline capable short cycling treatment with plasma being between atmospheric and low-pressure plasma. The objective of this process is to connect the advantages of both processes in order to get a further access of the plasma technology to the surface market. Atmospheric plasmas as well as low-pressure plasmas are processes of pretreatment. These processes mostly are utilized in the processing of plastics in order to increase the surface tension and to achieve a better adhesion of coatings.

 

The plasma technology can be applied at:

  • Cleaning of surfaces (such as prior to bonding or to increase the adhesion )
  • activation or ‘wetting’ of surfaces (such as prior to printing, varnishing, bonding or spraying of plastics or elastomers)
  • etching of surfaces, especially at high-performance plastics the surface has to be micro structured in order to achieve an increased adhesion
  • coating of surfaces: plasma polymerisation (for example deposition of hydrophilic or hydrophobic polymers)
  •  Applications of the Plasma-Spot®
  • selective treatment of surfaces prior to bonding
  • selective treatment of surfaces prior to printing
  • selective treatment of surfaces during the repair of a bonding or repair of a lacquer damage
  • selective coating of surfaces (for example non-stick coating or slide coatings)
